Special Education Aide (Paraprofessional)
Job Vacancy for 2019-20 School Year, Part-time, Limited Term
JOB DESCRIPTION: The South Shore School District has a need for a part-time, limited-term special education aide, for the second semester of the 2019-20 school year. This position is for 5 hours per day when school is in session. The successful candidate will work with special education students (emotional/behavioral disability - highly physically and verbally aggressive) under the direction of a teacher. The position also requires playground/outside supervision, lifting of students and/or objects equal to or greater than 50 pounds, and any other duties as assigned. This position will also require that the aide transport a physically/verbally aggressive student in a school vehicle and may also require the aide to work with the student in the student’s home for part of the day.
QUALIFICATIONS: Appropriate Wisconsin DPI certification required as a special education aide (or the ability to get certification, generally possessing an Associate’s degree or greater or equivalent).
REQUIREMENTS: The job requires the candidate to work in a variety of environments and availability during the school day. The candidate must be in good physical condition and able to perform physical restraints in accordance with DPI mandates. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
BENEFITS: Salary/Wages: Range: $16.83-$17.51 per hour, other benefits (insurance, etc.) available on a shared cost basis.
